Bahaya Sombong

alhikmah.ac.id – Tidak akan masuk surga orang yang memiliki rasa sombong walau sebesar biji sawi. Masya Allah, betapa Allah tidak menyukai manusia yang sombong. Kisah manusia sombong yang dibinasakan diabadikan Allah dalam Al Qur’an. Firaun yang sombong karena kekuasaannya ditenggelamkan oleh Allah ke dalam Laut Merah. Qarun yang sombong karena harta dan ilmunya dibenamkan Allah ke dalam Bumi. Ya, sombong merupakan sifat iblis. Iblis diusir dari surga dan dijanjikan oleh Allah masuk ke neraka Jahannam karena kesombongannya. Kesombonganlah yang menghalangi iblis untuk sujud kepada nabi Adam as.

Mengapa sombong? Mungkin karena merasa lebih kaya? Merasa lebih sukses? Merasa lebih pintar? Merasa lebih cantik/tampan? Atau mungkin merasa lebih shalih?
Sungguh tak ada yang patut kita sombongkan, karena semua yang kita miliki adalah milik Allah, diri kitapun milik Allah, kapan saja Allah bisa mencabut nikmat-nikmat-Nya dari kita…
Sungguh tak pantas kita sombong… Bukankah manusia diciptakan dari setetes air yang hina? Bukankah kita dilahirkan tanpa mengetahui apapun? Bukankah tiada daya upaya melainkan karena Allah?
Mungkin kita merasa lebih shalih dari orang lain?  Dalam tausiyahnya seorang ustadz menguraikan alasan mengapa kita tidak boleh merasa lebih shalih:
  1. Kita akan kehilangan semangat berlomba-lomba untuk kebaikan.
  2. Tidak ada rekomendasi dari Allah bahwa kita adalah orang shalih.
  3. Kehidupan kita setelah hari ini tidak ada yang tahu, apakah kita besok masih istiqamah? Tidak ada yang menjamin, karena istiqamah di atas agama itu jatuh bangun.
  4. Manusia melihat dari zhahir, sedangkan Allah melihat dari batin. Ada suatu kisah, ketika berperang melawan kaum kafir seorang sahabat memenangkan pertarungan, ketika akan dibunuh orang kafir tadi lantas mengucap kalimat syahadat. Merasa bahwa orang kafir ini tidak serius mengucapkannya, sahabat tadi lantas membunuhnya. Selesai perang sahabat tadi menghadap Rasulullah menceritakan kejadian tadi.  Apa reaksi Rasulullah? Rasulullah marah dan berkata, “Apakah kamu telah membelah dadanya, sehingga tahu isi dadanya?”
Janganlah kita merasa lebih baik dari orang lain, menghakimi orang lain, menganggap orang lain lebih buruk dari kita. Bukankah kita tak pernah, dan tak kan mungkin membelah dada orang lain? Mungkin saja orang lain lebih baik dari kita, misalnya dalam hal berbakti kepada orang tua, dalam hal kesabaran, dalam hal kejujuran, dll.
Saya teringat profil seorang sahabat Rasulullah yang begitu tawadhu, bila bertemu orang yang lebih muda dia berkata, orang ini lebih baik dariku, karena ia belum bermaksiat kepada Allah sedangkan aku melakukannya. Bila bertemu dengan orang yang lebih tua dia berkata, “orang ini telah melakukan ibadah sebelum aku, maka tidak diragukan lagi bahwa ia lebih baik dariku.”
Subhanallah…sungguh pribadi yang pantas dijadikan teladan oleh kita.
Adakah kita suka bangga pada diri sendiri? Merasa sudah melakukan sesuatu yang hebat? Sifat ujub atau membangga-banggakan diri juga termasuk ke dalam kesombongan. Bahkan dikatakan oleh Rasulullah sebagai perkara yang membinasakan! ‘Abdullah bin ‘Umar RA menuturkan bahwa Rasulullah saw bersabda: “Ada tiga perkara yang membinasakan; sifat kikir yang dituruti, hawa nafsu yang diikuti, dan sikap bangga pada diri sendiri.”(HR.  ath Thabrani)
Dalam sebuah riwayat disebutkan bahwa Allah Swt berfirman kepada Nabi Daud as: “Wahai Daud, kesalahan itu (yang pernah engkau lakukan) adalah berkah bagimu!” Nabi Daud as berkata: “Wahai Tuhanku, bagaimana itu bisa terjadi?” Allah Swt berfirman: “Rintihan orang berdosa (memohon ampunan-Ku) lebih Aku sukai daripada dzikir orang yang bertasbih (yang disertai kebanggaan dengan tasbih mereka).”
Semoga Allah menjauhkan kita dari sifat sombong, sifat yang sangat dibenci oleh Allah Swt, yang dapat menjerumuskan ke dalam kebinasaan. Semoga kita selalu berada dalam bimbingan-Nya, menjadi seorang muslim yang memiliki sifat tawadhu, menjadi hamba yang dicintai-Nya, dan senantiasa meraih ridha Allah Swt, aamiin.
