alhikmah.ac.id – Pada suatu hari, Abu Musa al-Asyari, amir kota Basrah keluar dari rumahnya untuk memberikan khotbah. Jika dia memberikan khotbah, maka yang pertama-tama ia ucapkan adalah ucapan syukur dan pujian kepada Allah swt., kemudian shalawat kepada Rasulullah saw., Setelah itu, ia doakan Umar r.a.. Dan ia selalu melakukan hal itu setiap hari Jumat.

Menyaksikan kelakuan Abu Musa al-Asyari yang seperti ini, seorang laki-laki bernama Dhabbah bin Muhshan merasa jengkel dan bertanya kepadanya dengan suara lantang, “Mengapa kamu tidak pernah mendoakan Abu Bakar r.a.?”
Abu Musa r.a. pun marah mendengar perkataan Dhabbah bin Muhshan ini. Maka ia mengirim surat kepada Umar r.a sebagai Amirul Mukminin yang berbunyi bahwa Dhabbah bin Muhshan menentang isi khotbahku.
Maka Umar r.a mengirim surat balasan kepada Abu Musa r.a yang berbunyi, utuslah ia untuk menghadapku.
Datanglah Dhabbah bin Muhshan ke kota Madinah untuk menghadap Umar r.a.. Maka Umar r.a. menyambutnya dengan ucapan, “Aku tidak mau mengucapkan kata marhaban atau kata ahlan kepada kamu.”
Dlabbah pun menjawab perkataan Umar itu,”Sesungguhnya ucapan marhaban datang dari Allah, sedangkan kata ahlan, maka keberadaan keluarga dan harta adalah swt.. Dan mengapa aku dipanggil dari kotaku untuk datang menghadapmu tanpa ada kesalahan dan dosa yang aku perbuat?”
Kemudian Umar r.a. menjawab perkataan Dhabbah,”Lalu apa yang menyebabkan timbulnya pertengkaran antara kamu dengan Abu Musa?”
Dhabah pun menjawab pertanyaan Umar r.a itu,”Baiklah wahai Amirul Mukminin, aku beritahukan kepadamu persoalan yang sebenarnya. Abu Musa r.a. jika memberikan khotbah, selalu dimulai ucapan syukur dan puji kepada Allah swt., kemudian dilanjutkan dengan ucapan shalawat kepada Nabi saw., kemudian dilanjutkan dengan ucapan doa untuk engkau. Maka kelakuannya itu membuat aku merasa jengkel. Dan akhirnya aku katakan kepadanya, mengapa kamu selalu mengutamakan ia dari Abu Bakar r.a? Dan jawabannya, ia menulis surat yang berisi aduan kepada engkau.”
Mendengar ucapan Dhabbah itu, Amirul Mukminin Umar Ibnul Khattab r.a menangis. Air matanya mengalir deras di pipinya. Kemudian ia berkata,”Demi Allah, kamu lebih paham dan lebih mengerti dibandingkan ia (maksudnya Abu Musa r.a). Apakah kamu mau memaafkan dosaku, agar Allah dapat memaafkan dosaku?”
Maka Dhabbah menjawab,”Wahai Amirul Muminin, Allah memaafkan dosa kamu.”
Sambil menghapus air matanya, Umar r.a berkata,”Demi Allah, semalam dan sehari dari kehidupan Abu Bakar lebih baik dibandingkan Umar dengan semua keluarganya”.
