alhikmah.ac.id – Seperti dimaklumi, puasa merupakan ibadah yang sangat istimewa sebagai proses penyegaran kembali (rejuvenation), baik fisik, mental, maupun spiritual. Ibadah ini bila dilaksanakan dengan benar dan dengan sikap batin yang kuat serta tulus karena Allah (imanan wa ihtisaban), maka ia dapat mengantar pelakunya meraih derajat takwa. (QS Al-Baqarah [2]: 183).
Namun, untuk mencapai kualitas ini, seorang muslim mesti menjalankan puasa, tidak saja puasa lahir, tetapi juga puasa batin. Puasa lahir, seperti banyak di bahas oleh para ahli fikih, ialah menahan diri (al-imsak) dari makan dan minum, serta melakukan hubungan suami-isteri dari terbit fajar hingga matahari terbenam dengan niat karena Allah.

Sedangkan puasa batin, ialah menahan diri dari segala hal yang dilarang oleh Allah, bahkan menahan diri dari apa pun yang akan memalingkan manusia dari mengingat Allah. Horizon tertinggi dari puasa batin (internal fasting), menurut Imam Ghazali, adalah menjadikan Allah sebagai satu-satunya Yang Terkasih (God is the Beloved One). Puasa batin mengantar manusia mencapai esensi Islam, yaitu berserah diri secara total kepada Allah SWT (total surrender to god).

Dalam buku Asrar al-Shaum, al-Ghazali menetapkan enam rukun yang bersifat moral dan spiritual, agar puasa batin dapat mencapai sasarannya, yaitu sah (al-shihhah) dan diterima Allah (al-maqbul). Pertama, mensucikan pandangan (shaum al-bashar) dari segala hal yang dilarang oleh Allah. Pandangan itu berbahaya karena ia seringkali menjadi titik awal keburukan. Kata Nabi, pandangan itu merupakan salah satu anak panah Iblis (sahmun min sihami Iblis). (HR Hakim dari Hudzaifah ibn al-Yaman).

Kedua, menyucikan lisan atau perkataan (shaum al-lisan) dari dusta, gosip, dan adu domba. “Jangan berkata kotor dan jangan berbuat jahil.” (HR Bukahari dan Muslim). Orang yang berpuasa, demikian al-Ghazali, lebih baik diam (al-sukut), lalu banyak zikir, dan baca Alquran.

Ketiga, menyucikan pendengaran alias tutup telinga (shaum al-sam`) dari perkatan dusta dan kebohongan. Orang yang mendengar kebohongan sama buruknya dengan orang yang mengatakannya. Dalam Alquran, pendengar kebohongan disamakan dengan pemakan riba atau suap (QS al-Maidah [5]: 42 dan 63).

Keempat, menyucikan anggota tubuh yang lain (shaum baqiyat al-jawarih), seperti tangan, kaki, dan organ tubuh yang lain, serta mensucikan diri dari makan dan minum barang haram. Kelima, mengurangi makan yang terlalu kenyang. Sebab, hal demikian bertentangan dengan salah satu tujuan puasa, yaitu melepaskan diri dari kendali syahwat perut. Keenam, cemas, tetapi tetap penuh harap (optimistis) bahwa ibadah puasa yang dilakukan diterima oleh Allah SWT.

Semoga kita tak hanya puasa lahir, tetapi juga puasa batin. Dengan begitu, puasa betul-betul menjadi penyembuh yang cespleng (infallible remedy) untuk kebugaran kita, baik fisik, psikis, maupun mental dan spiritual. Wallahu a`lam.
