alhikmah.ac.id – Kedudukan adab bagi orang berilmu dan pelajar sangat penting. Diriwayatkan, Imam Malik bin Anas menghabiskan waktu selama enam belas tahun untuk mempelajari adab dan empat tahun untuk mencari ilmu. Artinya, beliau memposisikan akhlak pada posisi penting yang tidak bisa dipandang sebelah mata.
Riwayat tentang Imam Malik di atas juga dialami oleh Imam Syafi`i dengan kondisi yang berbeda. Suatu ketika beliau ditanya oleh seseorang, “Bagaimana engkau mencari (mempelajari) akhlak?.” Dijawab oleh beliau, “Aku mencari adab seperti usaha seorang ibu yang mencari-cari anaknya yang hilang.” (hal. 10-11).
Dengan kata lain, begitu keras usaha seorang Imam Syafi`i untuk memacu diri berhias akhlak. Kenyataan yang kita lihat belakangan ini dalam dunia pendidikan sangat mengenaskan. Tawuran antar pelajar atau dengan masyarakat kerap terjadi; hubungan guru dan murid bagaikan hubungan penjual dan pembeli; pergaulan bebas yang melanda dan Narkoba, menjadi potret buram dunia pendidikan di tanah air
Persoalan seperti ini bisa sering terjadi karena minimnya pola pendidikan yang menitikberatkan pada nilai-nilai relijius, dan lebih utamanya lagi, akhlak.
Padahal kata Abdullah bin Mubarak, seperti dikutip dalam buku ini, “Kami lebih membutuhkan adanya sedikit adab tinimbang banyaknya ilmu.” (hal. 10).
Perkataan Abdullah tersebut menandakan ilmu yang banyak tidak ada harga dan nilainya, baik di hadapan Allah maupun sesama makhluk, tanpa disertai budi pekerti luhur. Lahirlah di kemudian hari, orang-orang berilmu yang bermental korup, mengambil uang rakyat dengan kelihaian dan titel akademiknya. Bergelar Guru Besar namun tersangkut kasus korupsi seperti kejadian yang banyak kita saksikan di media. Karenanya, KH. Hasyim Asy`ariy merasa terpanggil untuk menggoreskan tintanya dalam lembaran-lembaran yang berisi adab sebagai orang berilmu dan pelajar.
Selain itu, salah satu pembahasan dari buku ini berakaitan dengan adab kita dalam membawa dan meletakkan buku pelajaran, sesuatu yang barangkali sering kita abaikan, bukan? Kata sang penulis, hendaknya seseorang menaruh perhatian terhadap buku pelajarannya, tidak meletakkan di sembarang tempat, tidak menaruhnya di bawah, dan barangsiapa yang meminjam suatu buku hendaknya ia betul-betul menjaga buku tersebut dengan sebaik-baiknya.
Secara sisitematis buku ini terdiri dari Delapan Bab. Tiap bab dipaparakan dengan sistem penomoran sehingga membuat para pembacanya mudah mengambil kesimpulan darinya. Meski sudah banyak buku yang mengangkat tema serupa, namun tidak ada salahnya kita menambah pengetahuan soal adab agar kita, baik sebagai guru maupun pelajar, lebih menomorsatukan adab dari sekadar memperbanyak ilmu tanpa adab
