alhikmah.ac.id – Belakangan ini, saya banyak merenungkan seberapa banyak waktu yang telah saya sia-siakan hanya untuk melakukan aktivitas yang sifatnya duniawi dan mengesampingkan aktivitas yang bisa menjadi bekal saya di akherat nanti. Salah satunya, belajar ilmu agama, yang sejak lahir saya anut hingga saat ini ketika usia saya sudah melewati kepala tiga.

Dari hasil perenungan itu, saya tersadar betapa minimnya pengetahuan agama saya, meski selama ini saya selalu melaksanakan kewajiban sholat lima waktu dan ibadah wajib lainnya, dan sesekali beramal dengan sedikit harta yang saya punya. Tapi entah kenapa, selama itu pula saya tidak pernah merasa tergerak untuk memperdalam ilmu agama. Saya lebih getol mengejar belajar ilmu umum yang saya minati, saya lebih tertarik membaca novel atau buku lainnya yang tidak bernafaskan agama. Untuk mengaji pun malas sekali. Tidak ada waktu dan lelah bekerja sepanjang hari, kerap menjadi alasan saya.

Meski Muslim sejak lahir, saya berfikir menjalankan ibadah yang wajib saja sudah cukup dan belajar agama, termasuk didalamnya belajar atau membaca Al-Quran, tidak terlalu penting. “Yang penting kenal huruf dan bisa baca sedikit-sedikit,” kataku waktu itu.

Tetapi pemikiran saya itu berubah total setelah hampir dua tahun ini saya mulai mengikuti pengajian-pengajian. Ternyata, belajar membaca Al-Quran dengan benar itu sangat menyenangkan, belum lagi mengkaji kandungan-kandungannya. Ternyata, dari ceramah-ceramah para ustadz dan ustadzah di pengajian yang saya ikuti, saya mendapati bahwa belajar agama Islam itu mengasyikkan karena meliputi semua aspek kehidupan.

Dan sekarang, situasinya pun jadi berbalik. Saya mulai banyak membeli buku-buku keagamaan, mulai betah mendengarkan ceramah agama di televisi atau radio, dan rasa keingintahuan saya tentang Islam seolah tak pernah habis.

Perubahan itu tidak datang begitu saja. Perubahan itu terjadi karena saya menjumpai beberapa orang yang telah memberi inspirasi dan motivasi bagi saya untuk belajar dan menggali pengetahuan lebih banyak tentang agama saya.

Seorang mualaf, sebut saja namanya Lia, yang sekarang menjadi sahabat karib saya, adalah satu inspirasi besar bagi perubahan itu. Ketika mengenalnya, saya sudah kagum dengan semangatnya belajar membaca Al-Quran dan menggali ilmu agama Islam dengan banyak bertanya dan membaca buku. Saya sempat malu hati, ketika tahu bahwa Lia yang baru dua tahun menjadi mualaf, sudah banyak memahami tentang Islam, bahkan isi Al-Quran. Sementara saya, yang Muslim sejak kecil, sampai saat itu malah belum paham benar apa sebenarnya rukun Islam dan rukun iman-meski saya hapal urutannya-apa keutamaan sholat tahajud, bagaimana berwudhu yang benar, sampai hal-hal kecil yang jika saya tahu ilmunya, bisa menjadi tambahan amaliyah saya di dunia. Ketika itu saya hanya membatin,”Duh betapa meruginya saya.”

Suatu saat, saya berkesempatan berkunjung ke tempat kos Lia. Di pintu lemari pakaiannya, saya melihat secara kerta yang ditempel berisi daftar surat-surat dalam Juz Amma. Beberapa surat mulai dari Al-Fatihah, terlihat ditandai dengan contrengan kecil. Aku bertanya, “Ini apa Li, koq dikasih tanda?”

“Oh, itu daftar surat yang sudah aku hapal,” katanya sambil tersenyum.

Hapal? tanyaku dalam hati. Aku hitung surat-surat yang sudah ditandai, jumlahnya 18 surat. Lagi-lagi aku malu hati. Lia yang baru mengenal Islam, sudah hapal 18 surat. Sementara saya, selama puluhan menjadi Muslim cuma hapal kurang dari lima surat dan tidak pernah punya keinginan untuk berusaha menghapal surat-surat Al-Quran yang lain. Malu rasanya………

Sejak itu, diam-diam aku memperhatikan aktivitas Lia sehari-hari. Sampai aku tahu bahwa ia selalu menyempatkan diri membaca Al-Quran setiap hari meski cuma beberapa menit saja, termasuk menjalankan sholat dan puasa sunnah. Ah, Lia, selama ini ternyata aku sudah jauh tertinggal…..

Sejak itu, saya mulai mencontoh kebiasaan Lia. Pelan-pelan aku mulai menambah hapalan surat-surat Al-Quran, mulai belajar menjalankan ibadah sholat dan puasa sunnah, mulai membaca Al-Quran dengan rutin. Berat memang, kadang rasa malas amat menggoda.

Setelah Lia, aku banyak sekali bertemu dengan orang-orang yang memacu semangatku untuk mendalami Islam. Salah satunya adalah tetanggaku sendiri, aku biasa memanggilnya Kak Lili. Dia juga mualaf, ketika hendak menikah beberapa puluh tahu silam. Meski ketiga anak-anaknya sudah besar-besar dan usianya tidak lagi muda, ia selalu bersemangat mengikuti pengajian di mana-mana. Mencatat apa yang ia dapat di pengajian dalam buku khusus. Pengetahuannya tentang Islam dan sejarah Islam, sempat membuatku terperangah. Lagi-lagi saya malu hati. Saya tidak ada apa-apanya dibanding Kak Lili.

Selanjutnya, suatu kali dalam perjalanan menuju kantor, di bis yang aku tumpangi. Aku melihat bapak tua yang sedang membaca Juz Amma. Dari gerak-geriknya aku tahu ia sedang berusaha menghapal salah satu suratnya. Sayapun tersentuh melihat si Bapak tua tadi. Semangat belajarku terpompa kembali, “Saya belum terlambat untuk mulai belajar,” gumamku dalam hati.

Kadang, saya merasa seperti seorang mualaf, karena banyak sekali hal yang belum saya ketahui dan harus saya pelajari. Namun saya bersyukur, karena Allah swt memberikan lingkungan dan teman-teman yang senantiasa menjadi penyemangat saya dalam belajar. Benarlah apa kata pepatah, tidak kenal maka tidak sayang. Makin banyak saya mengenal Islam, makin bertambah cinta saya pada Islam. Belakangan, saya benar-benar merasakan kebahagiaan karena terlahir sebagai Muslim. Semoga Allah swt selalu memberikan keteguhan iman dan kekuatan bagi kita untuk tetap istiqomah di jalanNya.
