alhikmah.ac.id – Dalam 30 tahun ke depan, populasi umat Islam mencapai 70 persen populasi global. Ini merupakan kenaikan populasi tercepat di dunia.

Hal itu, diungkap Managing Director Thomson Reuters untuk Timur Tengah dan Afrika Utara, Russel Haworth, Seperti dikutip 247emirates.com, Kamis (3/10).

Menurutnya, kenaikan populasi juga dibarengi dengan kenaikan aset industri perbankan syariah yang mencapai 2 triliun dolar pada tahun 2014, dengan pertumbuhan 19 persen dalam empat tahun ke depan. Tahun 2011 lalu, jumlahnya sudah mencapai 1.3 triliun.

Untuk industri halal, kata dia, total sumbangsihnya sudah mencapai 12 persen dengan nilai omset mencapai 685 miliar dolar AS setahun.  Kenaikan juga dialami industri pariwisata halal.

Wisatawan Muslim saat ini telah menyumbang 126 miliar dolar AS pada tahun 2011. Jumlah ini akan terus bertambah pada tahun 2020. Pertumbuhannya 4.8 persen per tahun, atau lebih tinggi dari persentase global, 3.8 persen.
