alhikmah.ac.id – Segera setelah beberapa bom meledak di garis finish “Boston-Marathon” Senin petang, seorang pengguna twitter yang dilaporkan berasal dari Libya menulis komentar, yang kemudian di-retweet oleh orang-orang Muslim di Amerika. Ia menulis, “Semoga bukan warga Muslim”.

The Muslim Public Affairs Council adalah salah satu yang me-retweet komentar itu. Haris Tarin yang mengepalai kelompok advokasi di Washington mengatakan, “Komentar itu mencerminkan perasaan warga Muslim-Amerika, bahwa begitu ada serangan teroris, warga Muslim-Amerika akan dituduh.”

Ia menambahkan, banyak Muslim merasa diserang sebagai warga Amerika dan dikucilkan sebagai Muslim karena kecurigaan yang sering ditudingkan pada mereka.

Presiden Amerika Barack Obama berhati-hati mengambil kesimpulan sebelum seluruh fakta diketahui.  Tarin mengatakan, pada umumnya pejabat dan pemimpin politik Amerika bersikap demikian.

“Saya kira badan-badan penegak hukum dan banyak pejabat publik kita sudah sangat bertanggungjawab dalam pernyataan dan pembicaraan mereka tentang isu ini,” tambah Tarin, dilaporkan VOA, Selasa (16/04/2013).

Meskipun serangan 11 September 2001 dilakukan warga yang mengatasnamakan Islam, ada pula beberapa serangan teroris yang dilakukan oleh para ekstrimis di dalam negeri yang tidak terkait apapun dengan Islam, ujar Ibrahim Hooper dari Council on American Islamic Relations.

Hooper mangatakan, “Yang harus kita lakukan mengingat kembali serangan tahun 1995 terhadap gedung federal Murrah di kota Oklahoma, di mana begitu banyak orang tewas dan pada beberapa hari pertama warga Muslim dan Arab menjadi target.”

Dalam kasus itu, dua warga Amerika yang terdorong sentimen anti-pemerintah akhirnya divonis bersalah, dan satu di antara mereka dihukum mati.

Terkait serangan di Boston, beberapa komentar anti-Muslim tampak pada situs-situs media sosial. Pada saat bersamaan, pemimpin kelompok ekstrimis Salafi di Yordania mengatakan ia gembira melihat bencana di Boston itu.

“Ada miliaran orang di dunia yang memiliki akses internet dan satu dua individu bisa memiliki pandangan ekstrimis. Tapi tidak berarti hal ini mewakili mayoritas warga Muslim di seluruh dunia,” ujar Hooper.

Para pemimpin Muslim Amerika mengatakan, serangan seperti yang terjadi di Boston ini seringkali bertujuan untuk memecah warga Amerika. Mereka mengatakan, Amerika seharusnya menanggapi serangan itu dengan menunjukkan persatuan, lepas dari siapa yang melakukannya. (hdyt)
